According to Reuters BMW is going to be producing electric cars which will be environmentally friendly – so even premium auto makers are embracing the green movement. President Obama is offering incentives to car maker to go green and his administration has drafted new rules for carbon dioxide emissions and fuel efficiency which all auto makers have to follow.
BMW has already posted better than expected second quarter earnings of 169 million euros ($243.2 million), better than the 42 million euro average but still much less than year before in comparison.
The new segment of cars will be targeting the urban consumer and the city driver and will be produced as s sub-brand. Quite possibly the first of these sustainable vehicles will be a two wheeler model.
