In August BMW canceled all plans for the E93 BMW M3 CSL now they have also canceled the CS Concept (future 8-series). This comes straight from BMW’s CEO, Mr Reithofer who confirmed this on a press conference yesterday.

CS Concept was canceled due to the financial crisis in Europe and U.S. The CS Concept was rumored to be the next BMW flagship which might have replaced the discontinued 8 Series.

This four-door coupe,” much like the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class would have competed closely with the new Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera.

The BMW CS Concept made its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show back in 2007 and it was one of the BMW’s most acclaimed concepts.

The first rumors that the Concept will make into production surfaced in September 2007 and it was confirmed at that time by BMW’s CEO himself.

What next? BMW will focus more on EfficientDynamics and project i. And most likely we will be seeing more small cars with a BMW badge on the streets within 3-4 years.
