Bavina’s electric car under production for the Indian market

Bavina Cars, India, a new auto maker is planning to set up a manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu state, where the government has already allocated it land. The company is going to manufacture an electric car, which should be ready to roll out in 2011.
Currently Ford, Hyundai, BMW and others have already got their facilities in the state. However, Bavina is going to be in direct competition with Reva which is the only other electric car manufactured in India and the largest manufacturer to boot – Reva cars are also exported to many countries.
Bavina has already invested Rs. 300 crores ($61.5 million) initially and hopes to make and sell 25,000 vehicles annually. The car will be a:
1. Plug in series hybrid electric car.
2. Four door four seater.
3. Hatchback.
It will work on lead acid batteries for the Indian market and would attain a top speed on 100 km per hour on a 2 hour charge time.
