Audi showed the e-tron concept at last month’s Frankfurt Motor Show. This all-electric sports car concept has four electric motors, one at each wheel producing together 313 horsepower and just unbelievable 4,500 Nm (3,319.03 lb-ft) of torque.
With electric motors at each wheel it is a true future quattro. e-tron concept weighs 1,600 kg (2,527 lbs) and accelerates from 0-100 km/h (0 – 62 mph) in 4.8 seconds. Range from a 53 kWh lithium-ion battery pack is 248 km (154 miles).
Today only real electric sports car in production is Tesla Roadster. Looks like in the next few years they will get plenty of competition as almost every big automaker is working on their own electric sports car.
Audi is no exception and has now confirmed that they will put the e-tron concept into production. According to Audi of America President Johan de Nysschen, they expect to have running examples based on the e-tron concept out in 1-2 years.
If all goes as planned you can get your own electric Audi sports car sometimes in 2013.
