The Nordschleife is one of the greatest and extreme racing tracks in the world. It has been a one-way, public toll-road for nearly 80 years except times when it is closed for testing purposes, training lessons or racing events.
Between 1927-1982 the length of the track was 22.8 km (14.7 mi) with 160 turns. In 1984 new track was completed to meet the highest safety standards, but was considered in character a mere shadow of its older sibling. New lenght is 20.81 km (12.93 mi) with 154 turns.
Below we have an amazing notstalgic video form the late 60s to show you how extreme the track was and how crazy the guys driving cars there.
