Saab’s all new, 2010 9-4X CUV has now shed all of its camouflage, except for fake taillight covers.

The production model looks very much like the Saab BioPower concept that debuted at NAIAS 2008 last January. Codenamed GMT168, this Saab is expected to start production at the Ramos Arizpe plant in late 2009, although it might now be delayed by several months.

It will be based on GM’s new TE chassis, and will share this platform with the 2010 Cadillac SRX. In addition to regular gasoline motors, the 9-4x will pack a new 250hp/406 ft lb diesel motor developed by GM and VM Motori. Saab’s “XWD” all-wheel-drive system will also be available.

Do folks think that the diesel motor will be coming to the states?

  • rick says:

Amazing! Best looking crossover…ever? Yes, I believe so!

That looks great, hopefully the new 9-5 will be shown soon and that will be everything they’ve promised over the years.

I keep holding out hope for 9-1. I want to buy that more than any other car!

  • Peter says:

    agree with you rick.

    It looks awesome.

and I doubt they will offer diesel in the states. Gas prices are down and fuel efficiency is not on peoples mind(well until the prices go up again).

Looks like a nice car, but will they get to make it or will GMC cancel this one as well like they have done with previous cars. Saab needs this car but they needed it 3 years ago.

  • I looks like a decent CUV at this point, but I think Saab needs to focus on cars, rather than SUV’s. The last all new vehicle introduced for N.A. was the 97; Saab is about cars first, not suburban baby cruisers.

No way they would cancel it. The car is production ready. if they would then they should also close all their doors. That would be just stupid.

  • Laguna says:

It doesn’t look too appealing although the concept model was ok. A diesel (possibly a Cadillac sourced 250bhp 2.9 litre V6) will be offered here in Europe. The SUV also looks very porky…
