2010 Mercedes SLS AMG “flies” to the roof terrace of the Mercedes-Benz Museum

2010 Mercedes SLS AMGWell not really, even though the car had its Gullwing doors all the way open. Yesterday, with the help of a 120-ton hydraulic crane this 1,620 kg supercar was lifted to the roof terrace of the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart.

The SLS AMG will be there on display until 16th of October. Normally the 465 square meter terrace is not open to the public, so if you are in the Stuttgart area it surely is worth going there. If not take a look at the gallery below.

From 42 meters (137.8′) you can also see surrounding vineyards and the Mercedes-Benz Untertürkheim plant.

“This will be a very emotional experience for our visitors,” says Michael Bock, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Museum GmbH. “This super sports car stands for excitement, passion and high-tech. As museum for the past. present and future of the automobile we provide an ideal setting for the exclusive presentation of the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.”

SLS AMG is a true masterpiece. Front-mid positioned 6.4-liter V8 that develops 571 hp and 650 Nm of torque. Power is sent to rear wheels via seven-speed dual-clutch transmission taking the modern day Gullwing to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. Top speed is electronicall governed at 317 km/h.
