2010 Kia Sorento official renderingLast week Kia showed us a side view of the next generation Sorento. Today Kia released first official renderings of the new Sorento. New Sorento is designed under the watch of ex-Audi designer Peter Schreyer. Design is very clean and simple.

Official debut will take place at the Seoul Motor Show in April. South Korean sales will start soon after.

U.S. and European customers should see new Sorento at their dealerships end of the year as a 2010 year model.

2010 Kia Sorento will use the unibody architecture not the body-on-frame platform. This means Sorento will lose some of its off-road capabilities and towing capacity. For people who never plan to take their Sorento off the road it should be good news as the new unibody architecture offers better handling and more comfortable ride.

Its engine line-up will include the next generation 2.2-liter R-diesel engine (200 horsepower) delivering an impressive 33MPG. Gasoline engines will include  a 2.4-liter Theta II and a 3.8-liter in-line six with 270+ horsepower. Engines will be coupled to a new six-speed automatic transmission.

U.S. customers can see the new Sorento in April at the New York International Auto Show.
